Comp sci as a newly added major at small college

My son is interested in Eastern University, a small Christian college in PA. He is a junior in high school, and wants to major in computer science. Eastern is just adding this as a newly offered major starting this fall. So when my son enrolls, the program will only be in it’s second year. This being a small college, I’m worried/curious about the quality they could offer. If it was a more established major, then he really likes the school but as of now, we are not sure. He will look into the program again in the fall. We like Eastern because it’s close by, but even if the comp sci major is good, with good professors, would it be looked down on since it’s so new? I think Eastern has a good reputation in our area (suburban Philadelphia).
Another top choice he likes is Taylor University in Indiana, which seems to have a fantastic comp sci major. But it’s far and he won’t know anyone there.
Any thoughts?

It depends on his career goals. Look for programs that have a lot of math, or double major in math, if he wants to go to graduate school in CS. Also not knowing anyone gives a student a chance to be who he wants to be. If the price is the same, some students want to start over and not go to college with a lot of high school friends.
