I am trying to decide between UMD (in-state), Georgia Tech, UVA, and Washington University in St. Louis for comp sci. Georgia Tech has the best comp sci program out of the four (at least based on rankings), but I am a little concerned about the workload. Of course I want to work hard in college, but I have heard from many engineering students that Georgia Tech is incredibly demanding and stressful. Does this hold true for comp sci as well? I definitely want more of a balance of work and play in college.
Computer Science classes at UMCP are also quite intense and often graded harshly.
UVa or WUSTl aren’t known for computer science research, though they are strong schools for undergraduate. Not sure of their undergrad computer science coursework.
