I've been accepted to Willamette, Lewis and Clark, University of Redlands, and Whitman. Redlands and Willamette gave great financial aid, but Whitman and Lewis and Clark did not give much and it will be hard for my family to help pay for those colleges. Are L & C and Whitman worth the extra cost? Please let me know what experiences anyone has had with those 4 schools. Thanks!!

Where did you end up chosing to go?

Still trying to choose! Help!

My daughter went to Willlamette and loved it. Youngest is going to Redlands starting in the fall.

Have you visited all of them? Walla Walla is a small town, while Portland is a large city. Salem and Redlands are more medium size cities. Do you have a preference for what type of location you would prefer? Redlands would be warm, Salem more rainy.

I would not go into debt for an undegrad degree if you can avoid it, especially when the schools are fairly similar. I would pick either WIllamette or Redlands. That way if you decide to go on to grad school you will not be starting with any debt. Or if you work right after college you won’t have huge payments each month to deal with.

Good luck!

^ I agree with Idahomom, and my DD will graduate from L&C next month. A friend graduated from Willamette, very good school.

Idahomom, I’d love to know more about your experiences with Willamette and Redlands. They are my D’s top choices to apply to next year. Willamette might be a little stretch but Redlands looks like a good fit statistically. Your sons stats must be similar to my D just wondering what was his second choice after Redlands

I have heard very good things about both Willamette and Redlands, as friends have children at both. I think you would be happy with either of these choices… no need to go into debt.

Your only decision is whether you like Oregon or So Cal better. Redlands is hot and fairly dry (not close to the beach). Willamette would be cooler and more wet and green.

Signed with Redlands today!

Congratulations! You will love it there.
