Comparing Midwestern ME Departments

The midwestern ME and AE departments at public colleges probably have larger endowments and financial resources than CWRS, but nevertheless does CWRS compare favorably with the resources of UMichigan, UMinnesota, Iowa State University or UIllinois in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering [labs and facilities]? I notice from the CWRU General Bulletin that the engineering program has one or two less math class requirements than other colleges. No Linear Algebra requirement at CWRU, for example. No Probability & Staticts or Partial Differential Equations at CWRU Engineering. Perhaps these topics are covered in other required courses in the Case College of Engineering?

From what we could tell during college search last year, CWRU has a very strong engineering program. Perhaps they name their classes differently or allow math electives. Try contacting the Engineering dept.

I’m an engineering major at Case.

Our curriculum is structured a bit different, but we end up getting the same number, or even more, math courses than our counterparts in the Midwest. It’s just that, after a certain point, higher level math classes don’t go under the MATH prefix.

Facilities wise, we have really good facilities that are constantly being updated. The best part is that at Case, you have more access to them than you would have in a larger state school.
