I'd go to USC or NYU for film.

Seems obvious to me

Definitely USC and NYU are the two best film/cinema programs in the country by a long shot. USC will likely have better connections with hollywood etc, but not by a long shot. By only a hair really. Almost no difference between the opportunities offered by NYU and USC. I think NYU is a little more into Indie films than USC, but it isnt necessarily directed towards that. It is just something many students are interested in. I'de say if you get into both and you like both, choose whichever gives best aid (probably USC). NYU is in a much nicer area though.

USC:
What i want to know: Job placement. More about the Student life.Faculty student relation. Do professors make themselves accessible? I can't find any info about the business program with concetration in entertainment industry.

USC has amazing job placement, due to having one of the most extensive alumni networks in CA. Very, very good for job placement.

Students at USC are people who work hard in their classes, but also like to have fun on the weekends. They're spirited in sports (especially football). And they have lots of love for the school.

I don't know too much about the professors, but they're supposed to be quite good. :)

What do you mean by Indie films. The good thing about NYU is that i would not pay for housig.I have a relative that lives in NYC. Do you know if students are required to live in the dorms. Are the equipments and labs accesible for students.or is it a pain in the $$. I knoe that at Chapman equipments and facilities are available 24 seven.

let~s wake up my thread

Etcheverry, what are your academic stats (test scores, unweighted and weighted GPAs, etc.) like?

While NYU and USC are certainly my top choices for film, both programs are extremely competitive. So, it is a good idea to have backups in the mix as well.

I have a 3.9 gpa i~m sophmore in a private college..major in business
26 on the act not good but pretty decent for international student..

I~m also considering as safe;matches CSU fullerton, SJSU and Chapman

USC film school admit rate is lower than Harvard, something around 4-6%, while Harvard is 7% this year.

well , i know it~s difficult but i like all the other applicants have a shot.

I don~t think is fair comparing harvard admission to USC..the test scores and average of a harvard student is much much higher that USC..Grade at SCA is not as important at Harvard

But these are film school applicants, not exactly the academic stars Harvard is getting. I am afraid you are comparing apples with oranges and I am talking about averages of course.

buuummmpppppp

etcheverry, Do you have a reel of sample films you've created? That is an important part of the admissions process at schools like USC and NYU. No one can really evaluate your chances at schools that require a reel as part of the admissions process because it is a critical piece of the puzzle we don't have access to. I would suggest asking one of your film production instructors at your current college to critique your sample.

Some other schools you might check out as safe bets if you are transferring: Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, Loyola Marymount, Montana State U, Columbia College (chicago), and California institute of art (Cal Arts). Emerson is also a terrific program. Best of luck!

My portofolio isnt impressive at all. I dont have much film experience.Im my home country our high schools dont offer theater or film related subjects,so you couldnt get as involved as i would liked to. I heard that USC take that into consideration.I dont remember where i read it, but it said that they understand that some students dont have the acces to film as american student suring high school.*n the city where i was born we dont have any film school.
How is NYU policies regarding portofolio. Do they consider students with little film experience.

I still would like some info about the differences btw production program at USC and the one at Northwestern.
