does anyone know if admit rates are a little different if you are competing with other people at the same school/area as you? like a LOT of people at my school are applyin am i competing against them or is it more holistic?

Same here! That’s a good question.

any ideas?

I don’t think anyone can give a clear answer. I suspect that admissions decisions are “made blind” - i.e., after your initial review by a regional rep, the admissions committee looks over your application without a name, address or school name. The obvious admits and rejections take place and then if there’s anyone on the fence the regional rep may be brought in to provide some insight. If that’s how SC does it then it doesn’t matter how many applied from your school.

Looking at the above link you’ll see 10 highlighted schools that sent multiple students to SC last year. Obviously they do take more than 1 or 2 applicants from a particular school. USC (or any college) wants the best set of candidates possible. It’s hardly in there best interest to accept a lesser qualified candidate just because they already have ‘too many’ more qualified candidates from another school.
