Competitive Nature of Middlebury

<p>My daughter is interested in applying to Middlebury but I have heard the students attending this college are very competitive. She is coming out of this sort of high school and is, frankly, tired of the tension this brings . She is a strong student, interested in learning, but not in spending 4 years stressed out. Is this rumor true? And does anyone have any suggestions for a college that would allow her to grow as a linguistics major?</p>

<p>The word on the street is that Midd is definitely NOT very competitive(except to get into)-just engaged in learning. No sabotage of labs or grade-grubbing that I have heard of, and one of my S is studying pre-med.</p>
