Competitive undergrad schools bad? or good?

So I know premeds need to work hard no matter where they go and that whatever undergrad they go to won't matter.

However I was reading about schools like BU and it seems that they get a lot of bright and hard working students. In that sense though isn't it more competitive and harder to get a good grade at the top of the class?

You want to work hard but then would a student at say an easier school be able to pull better grades than the same student at a really competitive prestigious school?

If that's the case it would seem to make more sense to do premed at a less competitive undergrad school but on the other hand maybe the more challenging and competitive schools prepare you better for what lays ahead in med school.

I really don't know which train of thought is right or wrong but i'd really like some opinions and general discussion on the matter as i'm currently making my final decisions.
My top choice is what I plan to attend but the bio major and pre-med is considered extremely difficult and rigorous to the point where the majority of applicants are weeded out.
