I still haven't received the complet package from UVA yet after I sent out the deposit. Is it too late to sign up the housing and orientation? What should I do?

You sign up for housing, meal plans, and orientation on line. Have you received the MyUVa book? That has instructions in it. Otherwise, I'm sure you can call the student orientation office and they can lead you through the process. It is really quick and easy--my daughter took care of all that in about 10 minutes.

Good luck!

You can get the MyUVa book online, too. See my blog.

Notes from Peabody II: The UVA Application Process

Hi Dean J,

I'm an international student and all I've received is the I-20. There should be another package right? I think I need to apply for housing etc soon, who should I contact to get my SSN soon? Will the Office of Admission be available to give it to me through phone? Thanks!

Cherry, sorry I'm hijacking your thread..

Lisieux, you'll get an email with your "SSN" shortly. They've been going out in batches each week. No one at the University will give you this number by phone (that's a security issue).

You will still have time to fill out your housing application.

Alright, that's good to know. I thought I missed the email 'cos my friends have received theirs already. Thanks Dean J! :)

As of yesterday, I still haven't received the package. What happened?

I haven't gotten any mail from UVA either.

me neither, i already have had my deposit confirmed and already have my computing id, but nothing in the mail after my acceptance letter (transfer student)

Hmmm other than the I-20 I STILL haven't received anything also.. Including the computing ID. How how?

University of Virginia Home Page

If you try going to UVA's homepage and typing your name in the search box, you can see if you're in the system. If you are, it should bring up your name and Computing ID.

lisieux, you need to pay the U.S. SEVIS international student database registration fee (you can do it online at http://www.fmjfee.com). Then print out your receipt. if you're not from Canada, you'll need to schedule an appointment for a visa and prepare to get fingerprinted.

Once you got your computing ID from the above post, then search the UVA website for ITC and activating your computing ID. You have to take some lame internet etiquette and safety test before you get access to email.

Oh, and you don't have to visit the International Studies Office until the international students' orientation.

Hi, it's already the 27th of May over here and I still haven't received the UVA handbook nor the email with the SSN. :/ I just called the Admissions Office twice but they are not picking up my calls. It's nearing the deadline for Housing so I'm quite worried, is there anything I can do right now? Thanks! :)

MY UVA: Checklist for Admitted Students, U.Va.

I haven't received the UVA handbook in the mail either, but it's all online, so it's not that big of a deal. Just visit the link above. Hope that helps! :)

Haha no, international students don't have SSN #... They're supposed to give us the pseudo SSN # but I still haven't received it yet. And so I can't proceed with the housing application, etc..

lisieux, email Kimberly Schade at kls3gn@virginia.edu to receive your (artificial) SSN. She works at the admissions office.

Email onlineadmission@virginia.edu, not that personal email.

Please don't post someone's email address without their permission. It's kind of a breech in netiquette.
