Hey guys so I am looking for advice I am attending iowa state in the spring and I am not sure which major to go with computer engineering or software engineering yes they are two seperate degrees at iowa state!! I am curious about job prospects salary! Thanks in advance

Well what are you interested in and what types of careers sound ideal to you?

Computer engineering is more hardware oriented than computer science or software engineering.

Brogrammer I like programming but I’m also interested in embedded systems

read some of the postings i have made on this board on the very subject. For embedded systems work I’d go ECE with a heavy dose of CS, a lot more heavy than the ‘duh, here is the Python environment, write code that does X Y Z’…

The CS part of embedded is usually not THAT difficult (we’re not talking mountains of code - usually -) but the hardware aspects one needs in embedded work are a lot more covered in ECE than in CS.
