Im a freshman currently majoring in Management Information Systems but wanting to change to Computer Science.
My eventual goal is to get a masters in cyber forensics for the hopeful goal of being a cyber forensics investigator. My school doesnt have a computer forensics program, but it does offer some classes that are related to that field.
My school has comp science in an Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science. Besides the cirruclumn what is the difference? Really my masters degree would help me get a job in forensics and I need a computer science degree to get accepted into a masters program.
Going the BA route I take less less math, only applied calc is required and I’m currently in applied calc but business focused. And my current science + labs class satisfy my requirements for a BA degree, but if I went the BS route I would have to take a different science + lab class. The BA route also required me to take a scripting class, which is popular and a skill worth knowing in the cyber forensics area.
The BA route sounds right to me, I still get the programming experience and logical thinking credits. Plus, I take a scripting class that will help me in my future career.
Are we talking about Champlain’s MS in Info Security Operations? That doesn’t look like it requires a lot of advanced math. A BA in CS ought to be fine.
Mostly big, corporate java applications. I’ve been a contract programmer (I hate calling myself a consultant) since the 1980s, so I tend to work at a place for anywhere from six months to 2-3 years, and then go elsewhere.
I’ve had jobs I’ve loved and jobs I’ve hated. It depends on the application and the people I’m working with.
