I am two years ahead in my education. I will graduate with my bachelors degree in computer science when I will be 20 years old. I want to go to grad school to get my MBA. Because I realized from working at my part time internship that I do not want to become a programmer and I do not want to quit this degree because I only have one more year till I graduate. I want to become a consultant or some other job where I will be able to use my computer science knowledge and my business knowledge together. Is this a good idea to get my MBA right after getting my bachelors degree?
How can you sign up for highly selection MBA schools if you don’t have any professional experience (at least 2 or 3 or 4years after college)? Yes, there is some local MBA schools will take you in without any professional experience. You may try it if you have the money.
Most if not all of the top MBA schools require professional experience after college. UCLA MBA (Anderson) has this to say and quote: Preference is given to those who have had full-time work experience since completing the bachelor’s degree. So check other top schools too for their requirements.
However, just for the sake having MBA diploma without having professional computer science experience does not make sense at all. When it comes to consulting and negotiation as it relates to technical aspects, your knowledge is only from the books but not from the working experiences. Book knowledge (from getting a degree) is difference than working experience after college.
Anyhow, do you think consultant work is like Salesman job? how do you consult the technical aspects without having necessary working experience?
Many schools have masters of management programs for students without experience. You do not need to use a CS degree to be a coder, there are lots of other options in the tech field - UX, project management, business analysis, workflow etc. etc. which might also fit.
