Computer Science Major

How are the computer science classes at the University of Rochester? I have heard some negative things about them. How are the professors? How difficult are the professors?

It all depends upon the student.

D has several friends who are CS majors. None of them have ever complained that the profs are “unfair” or “difficult” or " too hard" or “expect too much”. But all of those peeps are strong students with a good work ethic–and some talent in math. And most have had some previous programming experience. (Though one of D’s friends who is NOT a CS major–she’s an econ major-- took the animation class. She thought the class was fun and interesting and not hard if you were willing to put the hours in on getting the projects done.)

WayOutWestMom is spot on, as usual. I have not heard any negative comments about the Computer Science professors, but that doesn’t mean those comments haven’t been made and aren’t at times accurate. Most of the limited feedback that I have heard from current students is pretty positive. If you want to be in touch with a student and/or professor in the department let me know in a PM. Thanks!
