Which one is better for a job in information security? The job where you protect a company against hacker attacks.

Depending on the skill required for the particular job (implementing software and producing software) are two different things requiring a very specific background.

Kaspersky Lab, for example, is a software company that invests heavily in cryptography and computer security research. Most of these jobs are filled by computer scientists who either have an extensive background in security, but are good software engineers as well.

You really have to compare and contrast what you want to get into. A name on a piece of paper can mean a lot to many employers, and Information Security (at my university) is a specialization in Computer Science, not even a major.
