^ People say lots of things about Chicago. It can be an intimidating place for some. I don't think you can argue any one place "stifles creativity." It may not be an art school, but I'm sure there are just as many creative people there as you would find anywhere else. Maybe creative in different ways.

these are just things i heard at a prospective students weekend at a LAC (but the comments were from other prospectives that were still considering other schools), so i can't elaborate further

lol there you go--people who haven't been to chicago and probably haven't talked to more than 1 person giving you the wrong impression. Visit for yourself and talk to some people here and decide whether it is for you or not.

i can't afford to visit... the LAC paid for us to visit

Sorry to hear that. I would try to ask Chicago about it and explain to them your situation. What you heard though (esp. from prospies) is not very well founded though, but I am glad you have a good time at the lac.

how hard are the math courses? I mean i just plain suck at math, i'm in honors calc, but i struggle.

and the physical science sequences? how are those because those involve math usually

i hear that the math/science courses that are designed for non math/science majors are quite hard
