Hi everyone
I have just received the decision from Earlham college. It stated something like “if you can increase your family contribution, you are accepted”. The problem is they offer me a package with 2000 USD less than my family contribution. This doesn’t seem much but it really matter to me. Can I ask them to increase their financial aid? If I say that my family can only contribute the same amount but we really hope that I am admitted, will they reply with a rejection? Earlham is my first choice so I really hope to get in. Thank you in advance.
It appears that they are requiring you to pay more to attend. If you cannot, this school is not an option for you.
It sounds like a conditional acceptance. So, you probably can’t ask them to increase. Earlham gives out a ton of merit money, on top of financial aid. The better your GPA and scores, the more money you get. But, I don’t think it is flexible beyond that.
