I am a junior in high school, I'm a dancer, Vice President of a huge world wide youth organization and I'm part of many other organizations, my extra curriculars are extraordinary but it's caused me to slack off on my school work this year. My GPA is a 3.4 and I haven't taken the SAT or ACTs yet but I'm hoping to get a very good score. My dream school is Duke but I don't think I'll be able to get in so I'm considering schools like Bowdin, Skidmore, Hofstra and Elon. I am also considering Vanderbilt but I think it's similar to a Duke situation. I'm not sure if I even have a chance to get into these school, and I need help with what colleges I should look at and what route I should take next semester and next year (harder courses lighten up on extra curriculars...etc) I truly just need help knowing if I'll even get in please keep in mind I am no average joe, I am a minority, my father left me, I have a single mother who is lesbian...etc the list goes on) please help!

Bowdoin: Reach
Skidmore: Aim for 30+/2050+
Hofstra: Aim for 26+/1800+
Elon: Aim for 27+/1850+

I’ll add to what @Catria said: Try and pull up your GPA. Is the 3.4 weighted or unweighted? I think Bowdoin is probably out of reach, but the others may not be. If by next year you find that one school truly stands out above the rest, your best bet is to apply ED and demonstrate interest–go visit the school, schedule an interview, etc. And definitely get an SAT/ACT study guide and make the most of it. You’ve still got time to get your academics into shape–sounds like your ECs already are. Good luck!
