Saw this link in the main admission board…thought it is relevant to you

People also suggest Drexel and universities in DC (GW,American). Georgetown is great for Business school. If you like urban, DC is a great place.

If you were going tech/engineering, Stevens institute of Tech is a great college in NJ, overlooking Manhattan. (Of course if you qualify in state at NJ, saving a ton of money by going to Rutgers may be more prudent…)…We used to live close to the NB campus…so I am very familiar with it. check this out http://business.rutgers.edu/

Well, I lived in California for 14 Years, and I am also a US Citizen. I moved back 2 years back. This still doesn’t make me a CA resident.

Didn’t the OP mention his/her parents moved back to NJ and OP stayed back to finish high school…So she/he may still qualify for in-state tuition if parents have established residency in the year before attending school.

@anvesh My parents and I used to live in NJ, but we moved around a lot and finally ended up in India. My dad decided he wanted to move back to the US last Oct., so they left for NJ, while I stayed back in Mumbai to complete my 12th. So yes, as fallparent said, my parents re-established residency in NJ last year.

@fallparent Thanks for the links.
My parents own a house in Edison, and we lived there for 4 years. Could we be considered in-state on that basis?
I am not going anywhere near science after 10th, I have had enough! So no tech/engineering for sure.

I am planning to go into business and/or journalism+economics (possible triple major?). Isn’t Georgetown really hard to get into?
Anyhow, I’ve yet to make a shortlist of colleges. I’m just waiting to give my SAT I and get my scores, before finalizing anything.

Plus, I’ve recently realized that I’ve screwed up 11th badly due to moving around like 4 times and 2 1/2 hour commutes one-way. I don’t know if any colleges will overlook my grade in 11th and see my SATs and 10th/12th grades as good indicators. I will try and explain the circumstances to the Admission Officers.
My marks in 11th will definitely reduce my chances, however colleges view them, and Rutgers seems more like a match than a safety now.

Yes, I am quite familiar with Edison NJ…we used to go there for Indian food
Anyway, just focus on your SAT and then apply to match/reach/safety safety…and see what happens. I think if your parents live in NJ for at least a year before you are admitted, you are considered to be a domicile in NJ. Just having house is not enough. They have to be living there…Anyway, first you need to get admitted and then you can sort it out with them. Good luck with your SAT.
