I have been awarded enough grant money to cover my cost of tuition for both fall and spring. I accepted the federal grant money but now notice only a partial payment was made and I still owe $500. It seems odd to me because I have applied for fafsa before and everything was covered and received extra cash for books/etc. This was 10 yrs ago yet my financial situation is the same. Why would the whole bill not be covered if the grant award amount I accepted was enough to cover the cost?
Are you taking less than 12 credits?
Yes 6 credits.
Then you would only get half of the Pell amount for the semester I believe
You’ll need to view your statement online or go into the office and look at it and ask questions. There could be a number of explanations, including # of credits taken.
Have you factored in fees as well as tuition (fees such as Activities Fee, Maintenance Fee, etc.)?
Is there mandatory health insurance?
Do any of your classes have additional fees? I had paid my D’s bill but the next month several hundred dollars showed us ap due because of special fees for two of her classes.
What is your EFC?
What is the amount that you were expecting to receive?
You’re only going very part time, so you get less money.
It makes sense that I would owe now, bc the price of tuition has nearly doubled in 10 years. I believe it is bc I am only going part time, I will only receive half of the award.
Are you going to school in Colorado? Have you applied for the Opportunity Fund?
