Confusion about sending SAT scores?

Hey,

I've never posted on this site but I've been reading it for quite some time. I've looked through the topics here and on collegeboard.com for a possible answer, but no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer.

I'm a junior in high school and I took the December SAT. Since I haven't applied to colleges and haven't finalized my college list, do I send my SAT scores to the colleges that I most likely will apply to? What do I do with them? I'd really appreciate any help. I'm really confused about the whole thing and don't want to mess it up.

Good luck to others who are getting their scores back tomorrow!
Thank you all in advance.

You can if you desire designate colleges in your registration for the test to receive them when they come out, in other words use your free sends. The colleges will actually hold the score and then match it with your application when you send it next fall. However, you do not need to do that and many recommend against doing so because you probably want to know what your score is before you decide to provide it to colleges. Better is to send nothing to any colleges now. Hold them until either (a) you take the test again or take SAT subject tests and then designate colleges to receive those at which time College Board will also send your prior score unless you designate it not be sent; (b) you don’t take any tests again and just send the score to colleges in Fall 2011 although that will cost you $10 per college.

Ahhh, I understand. That makes more sense, haha.
Thank you so much for your help, drusba!
