if you got notified this early, i’m assuming you’re up for one of the scholarships. i got mine a day later, but some others got theirs a week later, so it doesn’t mean that you haven’t been offered an interview just yet. i don’t think they sent out any regular acceptance letters this early anyway!

–Even for Undeclared majors, there must be some very compelling reasons your application stood out. I am guessing you have been involved in community service or other outstanding activities that show you passion and these are likely topics of interview questions. You may have overcome some difficult challenge or written about your life’s experiences in your essay–these may be asked about as well. If you have had other experiences or further results with your outside-of-school activities, research or cause, be prepared to give an enthusiastic update and perhaps talk about how you’ll continue pursuing your interests at USC.

Tip: No matter what they ask you, you have the opportunity to convey your serious interest in attending USC by

1) doing research into special USC programs that suit you and on the majors you are considering. For example, do you know about TO? Look it up before Explore and if it is just perfect for you, you can talk about that and why.

2) showing how pursuing your special interests can benefit this particular University. Will you start a chapter of a help-organization, or raise money for Haiti, or edit a literary journal for neighborhood kids, as you did in your hometown?

–I don’t remember the evening activity for students, but they do it accompanied by their host-student. Parents are guests at a dinner at the Town & Gown Club (very nice dinner!), seated with USC professors/adcoms or administrators. A noted professor gives a speech and it can be very inspiring & informative. Your mom will like it alot.

–Your parents will need to find their own hotel arrangements. Search the archives here on cc from past years for discussions on hotels.

They will be from the same school, and they try to match them up pretty closely major wise. Schools like Engineering and Fine Arts are separate from the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Each school has its own set of students who interview people for the scholarships, and run their own programs. If you applied undecided or for a College major, then you will get something that relatively closely matches your interest, however, there are no guarantees.
