yale student here. i know you have questions. i have answers.

Is it not in fact the case that JE is the best college?

Hisssss. I went to one YPU thing and that’s the only thing I remember besides stamping hands and feet. MORSE >> JE!!

Yale 2013: Congratulations! But beware sugar-coated negatives…It is in fact the case that Yale can suck sometimes, but I still love Yale to death, and you will too.

Don’t get shot. I mean that.

Oh, btw, the YPU is a sham, but apparently it’s a fun sham.

So I was looking @ UCLA’s thread and there was a similar topic on this.
How does wireless internet access work at Yale?
Is it just a simple matter of logging in?
Or are there programs and software involved?

It’s a simple matter of logging in. I’m no longer a student but when I was in town for business, I could just log in w/a guest account from my laptop. I’m sure it’s easier for the actual students (i.e. access to printers, etc.)

At the beginning of the year there will be a massive Computing Assistant (CA) campaign to help get everyone’s computers ready to go for the year, so in case you’re having trouble, you can always just find a CA and they’ll take care of it.

The process involves going online to a Yale site to register your computer in a very simple form. After that you can then go wireless in most buildings and even outside (although not everywhere of course). You can also plug into the wall for internet access if you want.

The CAs have free spyware/virus protection and other things available for you if you want, but the only thing you must do is register your computer.

There are also many computer clusters–public computer labs–where you can sign in with your netid (which you’ll get over the summer) and your password and freely use the computer, including its Pantheon Space, which is like a virtual backpack where you can save anything and whenever you log onto a Yale cluster computer, all the saved stuff will be there.
