Congressional internships

Hi there!
This question is for those of you who are house/senate staffers, interns, or previously did any
the two.

I'm currently interning at a congressman's district office and have been doing so throughout the spring.
However I'm now receiving emails from different representatives' offices asking me to come in for interviews to intern there in the summer.

My initial plan for the summer was actually to discontinue my internship with the congressman and start working somewhere part time to make money before college starts.
But then I was left wondering: would one significantly benefit career-wise by interning for two different congressmen or would it just look repetitive on your resume because your doing almost the same thing in each office? Eventually I would like to intern in DC, so I don't know if it would be worth taking the other internship or saving money for the rest of the summer.
Thanks!

P.S
Would it be a negative on a resume if one of the politicians you intern for have become, somewhat, tarnished in reputation? (Think Charlie Rangel, others..)

If you’re looking for a future job on the Hill, I’d suggest working for as many different members as possible. Expand your network and make lots of friends from different states. That way, if you want to apply for a job in the future, you’ll have contacts who will be able to help you out. Your ultimate goal, however, should be doing an internship on Capitol Hill in DC, and working your way up from district offices. Also, if you can help it, I’d recommend against interning for someone with a tarnished reputation, unless you feel comfortable defending that person’s reputation in public.
