<p>I am currently a Sophomore at Xavier High School in Connecticut. It is a Catholic high school with a decent academic reputation and very good athletics. I am looking to apply to Westminster (Simsbury), Choate, Taft, and Avon Old Farms. Avon Old Farms is my top choice. I am also looking to repeat sophomore year at whatever school I attend. </p>

<p>my school has 3 levels of classes, College prep (lowest), Accelerated (middle) and Honors (highest). There no AP classes offered to freshmen and sophomores besides AP World History in sophomore year. Here is my profile.</p>

<p>I am taking performing arts in the second half of the year, my GPA for the first quarter was a 3.91 and after mid terms in early Jan, when appilcations are due, i expect my sophomore year GPA to remain around a 3.9. </p>

Writing- 65
Math - 58</p>

<p>Cultural Diversity Club
Ambassadors Club (community service and help with attracting students to my school)
Lacrosse
Wrestling
Football (played my freshmen year,am not currently playing but i would at a prep school)
I read at least one book a week</p>

<p>I do various Jobs for a man who owns a large property for about 10 hours a week during school and 20 hours a week during the summer (i am 15 so not old enough for a real job)</p>

<p>I am white, and will be applying for financial aid. </p>

<p>I know at least 4 teachers including the mandatory math and english will be happy to write reccomendations.</p>

<p>Any insight on any of my choices (hopefully AOF) will be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>zach4376, I’m going to be honest with you. It’s going to be shaky. Your grades aren’t great… DId you take the SSAT? ALso, make sure to write your essays well. Choate especially looks at the essays (it has MANY). GOOD LUCK!!</p>

<p>Yeah it might be tough but you could get into AOF or waitlisted. But your definitely not getting Taft or Choate unless your a sports all star. Westy will probably let you in but they may not give much Aid. AOF will be a good reach school good luck with everything. </p>

<p>These comments aren’t necessarily true. No one can definitively say that one definitely won’t get into Taft or Choate without being a sports All-Star. </p>

<p>I know plenty of people accepted into schools like Taft, Choate, Hotchkiss, Andover, Exeter, etc. with slightly better grades than you have, a 90ish SSAT and good essays/recommendations.</p>

<p>But realize that it’ll be tough and you’ll need to ace the interview and essays.</p>
