including the horse smell at dorms?
I just want to clear up a misconception–the ONLY residence area you will smell cows and horses at is Tercero, but that’s only because the Tercero residence halls are right next to the dairy facility and the horse barn. If you live in Segundo or Cuarto (especially Cuarto), you will not smell the cows or horses at all. Some of the newer Tercero dorms (Live Oak, Currant, Scrub Oak, and Pine) are further away the dairy and horse barn, so there’s less of a chance you’ll smell cows or horses if you end up in those dorms. But I’ve been to Tercero many times before and I’ve never noticed the smell of cows unless there was a really strong wind. As for horses, I’ve never caught their smell walking around Tercero before. I also know a few people who live in Tercero and they say that the smell of cows doesn’t really bother them that much at all.
If you do not like Agriculture and anything related, thousands of bikes, small town friendliness and a chill attitude, UCD is not for you. I think UCD and the town of Davis is great and can be considered one of the few true college towns left in California.
If you want a school that’s really into athletics, there may be better choices than UC Davis. I say better choices because UC Davis is still strong in several sports, and our basketball team played well against Stanford in the NIT. It’s just a little quieter up here compared to the big name Division I schools.
