I am wondering how the Kids that are not Catholic are treated/taught at SHU when it comes to more liberal based thinking, and I got mixed messages at the open house when it comes to some of the core class that were discussed. Are the Kids required to do a religious study? Some of the instructors said that it was more of a open discussion on religion rather than studying religion. What would a discussion lets say on Gay Marriage or Pro Choice vs Pro life turn into. Would a kid be looked down on for having an open opinion? I mean afterall College should foster open discussions on such things.
Hello, Seton Hall is a welcoming community for students of all backgrounds. Being an academic institution founded in the principles of the Catholic Church, things like servant leadership are encouraged. We welcome students of all faiths and encourage students to grow within their own beliefs. While taking core classes, students will have the opportunity to read text from different religions and philosophical schools of thought, and see how they compare. Open dialogue is encouraged, and no student is looked down on for having an opinion different than an instructor or classmate.
