Conservative or Liberal?

I'm an international student and will not be able to visit the campus to see for sure if Southwestern is for me. So far, Southwestern seems to fill all of my requirements (like good campus, strong academics, really flashy website, etc).

But, is the campus politically active? Does it swing more towards the democrats or towards the republicans? Is it liberal (like reed or oberlin or brown)?

Thanks!!!

I posted a similar thread on the Austin College page- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/austin-college/803659-austin-college-conservative-liberal.html#post1063453757</a>.
Please check it out. Thanks!!!

Hi Purplemist,
I posted earlier but do not see it so I’ll repeat it-
My family visited Southwestern and the admissions officer said that SW is conservative by northern standards and liberal by southern standards. You might get a clear picture of the political life on campus by contacting the heads of the student organizations for the republicans and democrats and asking about their membership numbers and activities. Admissions should be able to get you those email addresses. Good luck!

Bump! Any more views?

Southwestern is having a “Student-to-Student Instant Q&A” on November 17 and December 1, 2009, 7-9pm CT.
