I’m planning on taking AP exams for Psych, Bio, USH, and maybe Calc AB depending on how things go. My game plan:
Attend AP classes (as in, not skip them! :P)
Review notes once a week
Self-prep with classroom textbook & others (Barron’s, etc.)
Do sample problems from now through February
Do practice tests in March and April
I figure I’ll probably use these courses to help my notes review and self-study sessions. If someone’s taken any of these (particularly those from Rice University) courses I’d like to know how they can fit into my study plan.
Also, I had planned on using Khan Academy now that they’re partnered with TCB for AP, but honestly it looks like it’s just a bunch of their old videos rehashed to fit with AP materials. Hopefully some of these courses can fill in the gap.
Took the AP Environmental Science exam and got a 5. Thank you Rice University!!
Note that my HS doesn’t offer Environmental Science as a course, so this was ALL self-study.
The courses are well made. IMO no reason to get the “verified certificate” Rice keeps pushing you to get, but I did anyway for two reasons. First, I wanted to attach proof to my app that I took this course. Second, I’m financially able (summer jobs) to support them and I hope they make more courses.
OK, so some caveats.
These courses alone WILL NOT get you a 4 or 5. You have to be pretty driven or self-motivated already (I’m sure most of you are anyway :)) I naturally care a lot about we as humans shape our environment and I really hope I have an opportunity to contribute somehow to fixing climate change.
That’s not going to stop me from trying out the Psych course though. Hoping to snag another 5 so I can earn credits. My college will take just about any AP for credits
