Contacting regional admission officer/counselor- does it help your chances?

If I come in contact with my regional admissions official/counselor of my top 2 schools and I express my desire to go to these schools by saying “I would almost certainly attend if accepted,” will my chances of admissions improve? Or will they be annoyed by it?

If they get annoyed by it, what is a better way to express additional interest (as I already have expressed interest through my essays in my app) to the University and improve my chances of getting accepted. No matter if it is by getting in contact with my regional counselor in a different way or something else.

Can you honestly tell two different schools you’d go there if accepted? What if you’re accepted to both?

The general feeling I’ve heard is that admissions people don’t want to hear from you at this time unless you have significant new information. Of, if you’ve been deferred, and you send a short note that you very definitely still want to be considered.

I think if you have had contact before with your counselor, but not since during the application process, you might reach out to say, yes, you’ve applied, you are still very excited about their school, and add a sentence about how your first semester has gone. That might help remind them of you. But if you have never been in contact with them, or just were 6 weeks ago, I don’t see how telling them you really want to go there will help. Lots of people really want to go there. That’s why they apply.

My DD and I took every opportunity to stay in front of the adminssions counselors. Every time we attended an event, a score got updated, etc. They will remember you better that way, so you are not just a name with no face.
