Yeah, that’s probably an “I’m not going to meet with you but here’s some information.” I wonder if COVID has anything to do with it.
Maybe try another professor at the school in question? For Wes, I’d try all of the faculty to see which ones will offer a sit-down. And check the website to see if VV is pursuing its public calendar once again. COVID has certainly complicated that aspect of things.
I would not extrapolate from a “no” that the college itself is not supportive, welcoming and excited.
This is a fair point. However, people are making decisions with imperfect and limited information. This is just one data point, but we don’t get that many, so every interaction has a big impact.
Pre-Covid we contacted the admissions department and asked if we wanted to meet with certain offices would they help us set it up or should we set it up ourselves. We got different answers but if they said we should set it up they gave us names and contact information, all large state universities. We were able to meet with the department heads, professors, study abroad, honors college heads, and vet school admissions personnel with a tour of the vet school at each university we were looking at. This all helped him pick his undergrad school and rule out others. Everyone was very accommodating. I would not be happy if a school wouldn’t support this. Even in Covid times they could offer to set up a Facetime meeting.
