Hi everyone, I’m from Thailand. Now, I’m studying in MEI for English in UMD and I need to continue my degree. I already have a Bachelor’s Degree of civil engineering from Thailand. So, the question is " Which major should I continue studying in Master Degree between urban planning transportation of civil engineering and MBA?" Unfortunately, my GPA was really bad which is 2.00.
- What do you see your career path as?
- For Urban Planning, would you be able to get into grad school with that GPA? I would think they would want at least a 3.0
- Can you afford to pay for a Masters?
- Have you taken the GRE?
- For an MBA, it is often better if you have worked some first.
Do you even have those options? Can you get into the programs with your GPA?
So, I don’t have any chances to have those options at all with my GPA? Not a single college ?
No reputable medical college will admit a 2.0 student, full stop.
You’re going to face a similar problem with an MBA, but might be able to make up for it with some years of meaningful work experience.
English is not OP’s native language, he meant a masters in civil engineering, not an MD.
But still, I have never heard of a program that would admit someone with a 2.0 undergrad GPA.
Whoops, missed that. Well, at least it’s not quite as dire as it originally seemed, but it’s still pretty dire.
I’d go back to the work experience first, option. Get some experience and maybe your employer will foot the bill. Admissions requirements are less stringent if an employer is paying.
These are very useful advice for me. I’ll take all of your suggestions to reconsider. Thank you so much.
What do the instructors and advisors in the MEI suggest that you do? They have a lot of experience with helping international students find good places to continue their studies.
