How easy/difficult is it to cook in the dorms at Cal? It seems like most of the dorms have some kind of common kitchen, but I haven't been able to find out much more than that. Does anyone know how well equipped the kitchens are (e.g. do they have ovens or just ranges, is there cookware or do we need to bring our own, etc.)? Also, any opinions as to which dorms have the best kitchens?

Thanks for the input.

unit 3 kitches have ovens, ranges, microwaves, a fridge, some cabinets with limited amount of stuff that probably belongs to residents who just store it there… people do use it to bake cakes/cookies for birthdays or whatever

AFAIK all the unit buildings have one kitchen on the ground floor. Unit 1 - oven, range, microwave, ice box (no fridge) and a bunch of shelves, which I think is pretty standard. Some buildings have a common set of cookware one can check out, mine doesn’t.

Most people just bake cookies/cakes, occasionally someone stir-fries. They don’t see a whole lot of use (which can be good news - easy access)
