do we, as admitted students to Grinnell's Class of 2010, get any cool things like grinnell gear or window decals. my friends who were accepted to pomona and whitman both got snazzy things like that.

I got a "Welcome to Grinnell" baggage tag.

I love it, it said "Pack your bag, welcome to Grinnell College" or sth.... it was kinda cute..

Picture this -- 1975.

I came for new student's weekend on Thursday to Grinnell, Iowa. Drinking age was 18. Skies were absolutely blue each day. Only freshmen and ogling upperclassmen on campus. No shirts in the warm weather. No classes. To some extent, no inhibitions.

And, to top it off, comes Bruce Springsteen to play. He packs the house at old Darby Gym.

Everyone is awed. My roommate, from New Jersey, assures me that God has come to our campus.

Then God left, and classes came.

That beats any pens, stickers, or whatever. And, to this day, that campus continues to provide entertainment to the cornfields of Iowa -- the greatest nonacademic aspect of that school. Others should follow.

applauds

Great post. Love the imagery and vividness!

you get a window sticker and the luggage tag thing

I got a package today with a Grinnell T-shirt and baseball cap.

i bought a grinnell t-shirt, car sticker, and nalgene bottle after i got my admission letter...and then the luggage tag thing came in my acceptance package

i got the baggage thing, but no window decal, and no t-shirt or cap. grrrr.

all i got for FREE was the baggage thing

i had to pay for the other stuff (as im sure necoon did wiht his shirt and hat)

Yeah, I thought I'd gotten the tshirt and stuff free, and then my mom came home and was all, "Oh. You opened that. I ordered it for you." Which dampened my excitement slightly, but whatever.

btw, I'm a girl.
