Cool Things 4-digs get to do

So, i thought it would be inspirational if the 4-digs could comment on some of things they are now doing post-recognition or even pre-recognition. For example, I know some of the Basics got to ride in gliders. My son was able to tag along with a group that went jumping. Also, tomorrow, he’s flying on a “class trip” to Andrews Air Force Base inside a refueling aircraft (can’t remember the name) with a bunch of F-16s. In D.C. he’ll be attending briefings and using some of the best flight simulators – one helluva trip. (And you all thought a class trip meant going to some museum! LOL). Anyway, 4-digs, Please comment!

Nothing real exciting. We go on Dining outs probably once every 3 weeks are so (pre-and post-rec) and its nice being in civvies now. So you go during the week to grab dinner off campus.

Flew in a glider during BCT.

Not sure of anything else...what "class" is this for AFDAD2010?

Spirit missions-limited only by creativity...and some laws.

Altitude Chamber-take a day off to drive to Peterson and see how you react to thin air. It's pretty fun, unless your hypoxia symptoms are things like nausea and headaches. Peterson's dining facility has really good food too.

There are a lot of club activities that are really fun too. (Not specifically for 4*'s)

what all sprirt missions have taken place this year? anything really good?

And whether you get caught or not. ;)

Still scraping Blue and Gold paint off that F-4? :D

choir trips have been best for me: go to go to Chicago, Boston, and St. louis with catholic choir. boston and chicago our flight was delayed so we got a couple of extra day to hang around the cities. plus touring chicago, military gets in free to museums and sears tower (=lots of money saved). with chorale we got paid to visit NYC, sing in Carnegie Hall and St Pats cathedral, as well as march in the Macy's Day parade. and then there are always spirit missions too...

and about the F-4: no. it is now cleaned by the washing off of black and yellow (Baddass Blackbirds - 28!)

My squadron changed the writing on Mitchell Hall to "Fear Hall." (31st - Grim Reapers.)

Other than spirit missions, I enjoyed intramurals and all the hiking opportunities out here.

Let's see, in my squad...We hung a banner off the roof of Mitch's, had a retaliatory mission against another squad (after they rudely stole the bomb that we had rightfully...um...acquisitioned from the quad...)

One squad managed to fly General Regni's flight cap off the spire of the chapel.

The word "steal" from the honor wall went missing a few times this year...permanent party doesn't appreciate that too much though.

hornetguy -- 35 guys from sq. 39 are in D.C. (andrews AF base). They got to ride in the c130(?) and watch f16 refueling and even talk to the pilots on the com. Son said it was the coolest thing he's ever done to date. We are driving to DC tomorrow to meet up with him and his brother who's at Georgetown.

haha, those are actually pretty good :P so what did ya actually do to the other squad raimius? if ya dont mind me askin

"One squad managed to fly General Regni's flight cap off the spire of the chapel."

?!

How did they do that?

c-130? if they refueled from the plane they were in, i would guess a KC-135. it could be KC-10, but KC-135s are more likely. Choir has flown those to and from places

I'd say 135, its rare to hop a 10 ride!

General Regni's cap = many balloons. :)

My squad lifted a very large banner of a V on the chapel. If you haven't seen the pics, check out the CC group on facebook.

We managed to get one guy's squadron patch. We gave it back...by taping it to the outside of his window, after rappelling off the t-zo. We got some red car-window markers and wrote our squad name and number on their mirrors/windows. We also stacked over a hundred cups (each with water and one goldfish) in front of their TV room...after removing the TV. That was superbowl weekend.

KC135. sorry bout that.

after memorizing contrails, its much easier to guess! guess contrails actually pays off occassionally

Contrails makes me sound more informed than I am. :)

no kidding, especially walking around the planes and the buildings. guess thats one of the reasons we do it

Cool things...hmm.

Well, of course as they said before, Glider ride during Basic. I haven't been able to really do much that is outrageously fun or cool this year, just some relatively cool stuff. However, in a few weeks, pretty much all the present 4 digs will be getting to do some pretty awesome stuff. I'm going to Germany for 1st summer period, then coming back here to do Jump, then going home (may be going to Ireland for a week during my leave as well). I think the summer periods are the times that really provide for some pretty awesome experiences, more often then the occassional time during the school year.
