Coolest Cell Phones

Everyone in College has a cell phone, and it seems like they're getting better and better every day.

What do you think is the coolest phone out there?

Out there right now? Or in the future?

For now, I'm liking my dad's Motorola Q. But for college, I'm going to get the Apple iPhone this summer. IMO that will be the "it" phone.

Not out yet, but the iPhone looks pretty darn cool to me.

The iPhone is stupid, and further proof that if Apple makes something flashy enough people will flock in hordes to buy it for coolness value.

I'd rather have a cellphone that does its job properly, and an MP3 player (in this case an iPod, as they're the best on the market) that does what it's supposed to well. I don't want some hybrid that doesn't do each thing super-well, just for the gadgetry effect.

I have absolutely no problem with the "coolness" factor, especially if it helps in other ways... (AAPL). Apparently, iPhone has gotten some very good reviews for its high quality, multi-task ability, and innovative design features. However, I will have to wait until I get my hands on one this summer for final judgement. But so far, sounds like the perfect phone replacement for me; if anything, I don't think the styling is "cool" enough!

I'm glad to see Apple rebounding just within these last few years.

The iPhone is dumb. I can dial without looking at my cell phone. Just wait till some idiot tries dialing his iPhone while driving.

I converted my dad's old brick cellphone into a bluetooth headset. I just have to keep the brickphone in my backpack and put the headset in my ear.

Pretty cool except someone who witnessed me opening my backpack and dialing thought I was setting off a bomb....

^ hahaha

I think the Sony Ericsson w810 is pretty damn cool. I needed a phone, wanted an mp3 player, and a camera that'll come with me everywhere I go would be fun too. I like everything about it except for its lack of a lens cover, so I switched the back plate for the k750's.

I have the EnV phone...only bad thing about is I feel like I'm carrying a Snickers bar everywhere I go.

avoid sony ericsson,... I´ve had way too many bad experiences with their crappy cellphones

The LG VX9800 is the best :)

Aronomy, that's what I have! :) The EnV is the newer version of it and I couldnt find pics of the VX9800. How do you like your 24/7 candy bar you carry?

The cool factor in phones is pretty hard to find, especially since most regularly-marketed phones are pretty cheap these days.

I suggest getting a special-edition phone. The one I'm currently using is the LG Chocolate Black Label and it wasn't TOO expensive (around 450). It gets a lot of looks.

<a href="http://www.unwiredview.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/LG%20Chocolate%20II%20Black%20Label%20pen.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://www.unwiredview.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/LG%20Chocolate%20II%20Black%20Label%20pen.jpg</a></p>

and this is the phone I use when I'm out at work. it's not as sexy but it gets the job done:

<a href="http://blog.scifi.com/tech/pics/samsung_blackjack.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://blog.scifi.com/tech/pics/samsung_blackjack.jpg</a></p>

P.S. LG Prada phone = neeeeed

laser - i assume that you are obscenely rich?

blackberry pearl
trackball is the best thing since sliced bread

Agreed with laser. The new LG line is amazingly nice. My dad went to 3GSM in Spain a few months ago and got me the LG booklet. Prada is damn nice.

Anyone know a good phone to put in a hands-free auto mount? My car's already wired for it, may need a new physical mount for a new phone since the one in there's for an ancient one. I don't care about a camera, since I'd never use it, and have no plans to use the phone for anything but talking (i.e. no web, e-mail, games, text messaging, etc).

My current phone, not car mounted, is an old LG with a good speakerphone. No camera on that sucker. The only features I use are address book and calculator. I don't text, either, and have no plans on doing it with a new phone. Verizon can actually disable it if you don't want people to send you texts!

One more comment I should add--with the car, this is a phone in a physical mount, not one of those stupid headset Bluetooth things. I'm not going to put some unsightly thing on my ear while I drive when I can have it just as easily mounted in front of me. As a bonus, it will charge the phone.

I just got the new Sony Ericsson W880i a month ago, and I love it. It’s small, super slim and has everything I need. (For most people) It's really not necessary to have a mini computer in your phone - use your laptop.

i've gone from always getting new phones because they were smaller, or had a better camera, or whatever..to keeping a phone that doesn't break. i'd broken countless numbers of "nice" phones, including a blackberry and sidekickII. i got a motorola rokr when it first came out because it could use itunes, but have kept it because it won't break. i've forgotten it out in the rain, droped it, threw it at stuff...and still works like new

i agree with diesel, i honestly don't use most of the functions that those phones have...and a small but durable phone has proven to be the best fit.

That said, whenever i get a new phone i am always looking for a phone with cool features that i end up never using...

i think my next phone will be the k800 though
