The regular decision prompts were weird but manageable, only one I had a real problem with(don’t remember it off hand though). I put a lot of work into my questionerre and hometest but worry because I did not provide explanations because it was unclear if I was supposed to provide them. I now know that they weren’t required but highly suggested and very very nervous that will Get me rejected lol, it’s to late now obviously but it makes me sick to my stomach, I hope they can overlook that and see my effort instead
Well, he did talk to her a long time, asked her why she did what she did, why she put the pieces together the way she did,
did the decisions have historical reference or symbolic meaning?, why she wanted to go to CU, etc., went through her portfolio and sketch book piece by piece, page by page. She was down on her knees, half lying on the table talking to him. He never told her to fix the portfolio up or beautify it. He did tell her to apply.
- A composition of remnants from yesterday.
- Self portrait as an array
- A view from the end of a pendulum
- A sequence of conditions moving from transparent to opaque
- Uncompromising
- Design a new public right of way
My daughter did not include explanations, based on some remark the guy made about art speaking for itself or being open to interpretation. She was afraid to include explanations and afraid not to. Whatever decision you made seemed to be the wrong one. We have obviously been overthinking all this in retrospect.
My son offered no explanations with his prompts - just the pieces themselves!
I agree that every decision seems wrong lol, lately all I can do is pick at everything I sent and obsessively check my email, I’ve had a knot in my stomach all week! Anywho, I wish the best for both of your kids, I hope they get in !
hi! i’m a first year cooper art student who logged in for the first time since last year haha. one of my professors is in the admissions committee and he said that decisions will be completely solidified by tomorrow, which means you’ll get your results by tomorrow at the earliest or monday at the latest (probably monday). i’m rooting for all of you and hope you all find the right school! please let me know if you have any other questions- i’ll be happy to answer(:
omg amazing thank u so much for the inside scoop! i guess the only question i have is do you think ill get in lol
@hihellohello, thanks for the update. If they will know tomorrow, I wish they would just put everyone put of their misery.
@redlodge lol tbh i wouldn’t know but i guess you’ll know p soon! good luck and just know that you’re still an amazing artist regardless of the outcome
I didn’t include explanations because 1) I too believe that the work should speak for itself and 2) I doubt they care to read anything else, they already have to read through 900+ questionnaires and quite a few personal essays. I wouldn’t worry about that!
It’s interesting how the prompts always follow a certain pattern…
Good luck to you all! I can’t wait to maybe meet you on accepted students day!
thank you @wingedsnake @hihellohello , I hope results come out today, I’m so anxious, I have work today so it will keep my mind off things but waiting until Monday feels like an eternity lol
@wingedsnake, even if she gets in there will be no accepted students day for us. We are from far, far away. She has never even been to NYC or anywhere closer than 500 miles if it, except for a flyover when returning from Europe. So, if she gets in, it may be move in day, although we do mean to visit during the summer
I live not too far away so it wasn’t a problem for me to visit CU but I totally understand– thats what kept me from applying to any schools on the west coast (or even really the mid west for that matter). I do recommend visiting it or even doing a virtual tour on google maps or something because I think the whole no campus thing turns a lot of people off (sadly). But I can tell you it’s a really cool neighborhood and has had a long and rich history of amazing artists and writers and musicians which I feel is still making the area feel inspiring to this day.
Hey! Trying to figure out how many spots go to RD Art kids at Cooper. I imagine they fill a lot of those seats during ED. Does anyone know - just trying to gauge how hard it’s going to be to get in tomorrow!
@ruby2sday “approximately 60% of accepted students are early decision applicants” Though I think this number varies a lot depending on the year, even more than their acceptance rate
So nervous about results coming out today
How do we know they are definitely coming out today? I have been unable to find anything specific. And is this for Architecture also?
@awaitingoffers - Art and Architecture are out today per the CU Admissions Instagram page.
THANKS!!
5 pm!
