Hey, I was thinking about getting an engineering undergraduate degree from Cooper and then maybe moving onto get an MBA at a school like Wharton or Sloan. I know Cooper is a big name in the engineering world and that's a bout it. What do you think are the opportunities for getting into a good business school with an engineering degree from Cooper?

I would say your chances are pretty good. I keep in touch with a lot of my former classmates and the vast majority have continued on to graduate school, many to business school. Of those that ended up pursuing their MBAs, I believe that most of them stayed local, graduating from schools like Columbia and NYU. There are a few who went on to earn their MBAs at other institutions, including MIT Sloan.

If you’re interested in applying to Sloan, one of the little known perquisites to attending Cooper Union is the Martin Trust Graduate Management Scholarship. If you’re a Cooper Union graduate and you’re accepted to Sloan, the scholarship will pay for your first year at MIT. I know a few people who took advantage of it and graduated from Sloan a couple of years ago.
