Copies are too light! What to do?

The 1099 forms are too light and when I copy it the information doesn't really show! Should I go over the original and copy it, or copy it and go over it with a pen? This is for the IDOC forms and individual colleges. Will they think I'm trying to fudge it? Or is it that big of a deal and just leave it too light to read? Thanks.

Just a stupid question: can't you adjust the lightness/darkness on the photocopy machine?

i would not go the pen route.... looks kinda fraud-ish

I put it on the darkest setting and it still is too light. It is that the original form is printed with carbon ink, so it is very light to begin with. Can I write over it with a pen on the copy, or is that shady and the colleges will think I am fixing information?

So is it better just to leave it really light, even though they can't read it?

I'd leave it the way it is...it's doubtful anyone will look at it that closely. If they want to read it, they'll let you know.

You should use the photo setting, sometimes that works.
We copied some carbon and that was the only way they came out on our personal copier. If it is for finaid, and it does not come out clearly, I would take to kinkos or somewhere to have it done.

I will try the photo setting on my copier...hope it works. Its grumbling lowly, and going very slowly...eh let's see...

Yay! It's slightly legible! :)

I have a question about form 1099 though. Some schools need all "W-2" forms. Is form 1099 part of the W-2 forms? Form 1099 is a half-sheet page, and is titled "Miscellaneous Income". If the school wants tax returns and W-2, would this be part of it?

A 1099 is not a W-2. It is for income earned by someone who is not an employee. Check with the school to see if they need copies of the 1099s.

I know the IDOC needs it, but the other stuff that Dartmouth, Princeton, and Boston College list that they want is the 2006 (or 2005) tax returns, and the W-2 forms. I'm planning to send off everything tomorrow, since I've already missed the deadline for some of the forms.
