No PE requirement for transfers.

neverborn, lucky you! I am dreading the PE requirement for some reason, partically because I think it is something I really don't need. I swing dance here anyway, so I am getting excercise. That should count, I think!

Core leaves a lot of choices--there's the hum class for people that don't want a hum class (Media Asthetics) and the SOSC class for people that don't want a SOSC class (Mind); there's the science class for people that don't want a science class (Natural Science--four quarters total), and the pattern continues. However, if you don't want to take the cool Hum, SOSC, math, and science classes, I'd be a little lost as to why you want to come here.

No disrespect to those courses, of course. It's not that they're "light". It's just that they're not in the pattern of the traditional core.

Zach: What can you tell me about Natural Science?

Science and math are my achilles heel. I notice there are computer science courses as "math" - I wonder if my CS 201 (Accelerated Introduction to Java Programming) will transfer to my math requirement for the Core.

neverborn, I think that is funny that math and science are your Achilles heel, as you went to IIT. Plus you are a guy (right, or am I crazy and pulled that out of the air somewhere?), and guys generally have their strenghts in math and the sciences. By the way, math might be in my future, but I can't make heads or tails of physics and chemistry. :)

Your computer science course probably will transfer. And yes, the CS courses are very mathy. Some of the CS faculty are also math faculty, which makes sense then.

Or, if you want, you can simply take 2 quarters of calc for your math requirement and use your CS course as one of your electives.

Kath: I don't get it either :D And yes, I am a guy.

I hope almost everything transfers... and to the Core... :o

Funny thing is, I understand the math in the sciences (and pure math). What amazes me about the sciences is how one can pull these seemingly random equations out of the air, and poof, do a little math, and there is the answer. Maybe that is just because I don't truly understand how that stuff works yet. But with time comes wisdom. Who knows? I may be the next Einstein - as highly unprobable as that is.

Yes, I thought you were a guy. :)

About as improbable as the word unprobable :p

Yeah, my brain is fried. I got only 4 hours of sleep last night, so I am surprised I am even conscious. Hey, in my book, it works. :)

By the way, neverborn, as a transfer, do you have access to the Thick Envelope web site?

I do, but it is for freshmen, and there is no thick envelope transfer site.

Anything interesting I should look at there?

No, not really. Just the average stuff.

I was simply curious. I made a thread to see who from CC was on Thick Envelope, yet not many people responded. I don't know anyone on that site, so it is not as fun as CC (though I don't know anyone here per se either, but it feels like I do).
