I know this may seem self-explanatory, but could someone explain in detail what the core curriculum is? Are these courses that I have to take in order for me to graduate with my major in the SAS? Do I take these first, then my major courses?

I intend to major in Cell Bio / Neuroscience, Nutritional Sciences, or Public Health. BUT my first choice of major is nursing, but I'd have to apply for a transfer into the program.

The page you listed is for SAS. The Core Curriculum is a list of classes that all students must take in order to graduate. Most students take them gradually, throughout the years. My son finished up his core classes (called something else, as he enrolled several years ago) by his junior year.

I am not sure if the CC differs between different schools, such as SAS, SEBS, etc. You would have to go to the specific school’s webpage in order to find out.

Okay, so I should take as many core classes as possible at my community college? For this semester, I was thinking of taking Writing 101, Psychology, Sociology, and World History. I applied to Rutgers for January Admission 2014, so I’m hoping that I’ll get in. I graduated this past June, and I was accepted to Rutgers for Fall 2013, but I ended up not going.

I don’t know. You could try looking up your class on NJTransfer.org and then seeing what classes at Rutgers are comparable. Maybe talk to a counselor at your current cc to see what is transferable. You don’t want to take a class and then find out it doesn’t fulfill a core requirement (although you can just use it as credits towards graduation if it doesn’t transfer as core).
