Core Curriculum

I know that Amherst, Vassar, Wesleyan and Brown are all great schools with no core. What are some other schools with out a core (preferably schools that are safeties)?

I can't think of any schools off the top of my head that have no requirements whatsoever, to the degree of schools like Brown. So if only this situation is what you mean, I can't be of much help.

However, most schools do not have a "core" per se, but rather distribution requirements...so while you will have to take courses in all the different areas, you can choose which ones, such that you can select courses that seem interesting to you. If this seems adequate for you, then you have a whole plethora of schools to choose from.

Hamilton also has no core (just a writing requirement), but can't be called a safety school for anyone less than Ivy caliber.

Smith has no core requirements, other than one writing intensive class. If you go for Latin Honors, they require one class in each of seven areas. My daughter is a freshman and is extremely happy. Her dorm is gorgeous, she has a single room, the food is delicious, her classes are small, and she socializes at Amherst and Hampshire when she wants to see boys. She has no complaints.

University of Rochester only requires an english course.

taxguy is right about Rochester, though I have several friends at UofR who call the no-core idea "BS" since there's usually alot of pre-recs you have to meet before you take any upper level classes.

Bennington has no core curriculum.
