Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship Applicants!

No idea.......You can call and ask if you really need to know....

rodney..let me rephrase...i wasn't asking about admission to the university...i was asking about notification of whether or not you're a finalist for scholarships...when i called, they said that ALL scholarships applicants will be notified of their standing, even those that don't advance...i was wondering if anyone got postal mail yet in regards to this

Sorry, I didn't realize, but I am sort of surprised they notify everyone who applied for a scholarship....I haven't heard of anyone who received a notification that they were not in the running yet....I don't think my d will be a finalist, but have not gotten a letter yet....

Well... I emailed them with a question about when the letters were sent out and they told me that I was not yet a finalist but that I could get something in the next wave... email or call them and ask!

amnesia..what school?

I just received a letter for full tuition, fees, and laptop for engineering...$38,600 in total. No interview required but they did invite me to open house in April.

Congratulations, BPKO43!

thanks ERPMom

congrats, man!

Wow! I got the same package BPKO43 got for the engineering school. Laptop + software ;) along with full tuition. Very pleasant surprise....do I still have to send my mid year?

weren't we supposed to hear in mid-February? it's now march and I haven't heard anything =[

From a post earlier in this thread (from mid-February):

"I wanted to clarify the scholarship for everyone. I spoke on the phone with someone in the Vanderbilt scholarship office today, and she said that all the finalists for the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship HAVE been notified, either by email or by mail. The "second wave" someone earlier mentioned is the other scholarships they have not yet awarded, which are basically less substantial scholarships. These recipients will be notified by late March. I hope this helps everyone."

What were your stats BPKO43? Arrgh, I should have applied to engineering.

what exactly does it mean by "less substancial" scholarships? 3/4 tuition, half...?

I applied to Arts and Sciences. SAT 2260 (verbal-760, math-710 (yeah, not so great I know), writing-790). SAT II Literature-740, Math I-730. GPA-4.2315. Rank 3/700. Does anyone know if I am a possible candidate for a partial merit based scholarship? I really hope so!

A friend of mine received an invitation to Cornelius interview weekend. He had a cruise planned and not too crazy about Vanderbilt, so he said he couldn't go, but the admissions rep said that though he could not get 100% tuition scholarship, he is eligible for the 50% and 75% tuition scholarships that they'll give. So I guess there are 1/2 and 3/4 scholarships.

i'm really excited for scholarship weekend
but any idea as to what the interview is going to be like?

i did the weekend last yr. the interview is during the day (either Monday or Tuesday)
i had two professors and a senior in the college scholars program interview me (i think this is pretty standard)...i actually really enjoyed it...half of it was typical college interview style but way more in depth (they know alot about you based on your application)...the other half was talking about how i was planning on taking advantage of the opportunities the program provided (i.e. study abroad, seminars, etc.)

i know this is a random question but is there anything in particular we need to bring? nice clothes for the interview i'm sure but is there anything else?

shower shoes!!!...dont forget these
lets see....you want something somewhat nice to wear sunday afternoon/night, something for your interview/nice dinner Monday night, clothes to wear around campus to classes
