@icybal99 Did cornell ask for your Q1 grades? or are you just sending them in?
I’m actually doing a lot better than I was last year so… straight A’s
@CornMine I mean not necessarily because they see your classes in your transcript. Like @themunster1 said many people get in without sending q1 grades. and I am sure that the admission officers will know that if you got good grades your first 3 years of high school, you wouldn’t suddenly drop your last year’s grades
@MarvinTheSnowCat also got straight A’s this year after the APUSH apocalypse last year
@icybal99 yup I’m well aware of that. But since you asked so I just gave out some possible explanations
@CornMine Thanx for that
I do see though how it can raise suspicion
My grades have dipped since 1st Q though. Scrambling trying to put them back together last minute : ( So stressed out which is good to take my mind off decision I guess
if u had to choose between having more course rigor but lower unweighted gpa and having less but higher unweighted gpa, which would u choose? (P.S i know this is a questions that depends on a lot of factors but i just wanna know ur opinions). hoping cornell will give me slight leeway with my grades
@themunster1 well it depends on how low it is. colleges want to see that you challenged yourself but they also want to see that you succeeded.
@themunster1 my bro last year was a tj grad with a 4.28 but he had like 12 aps and he didn’t do well in all of them esp in chem. he was rejected reg decision from cornell
@themunster1 probably more course rigor, but I wouldn’t drop below a B
very true. I wasnt a straight A student and got a mixture of A’s and B’s, but I took rigorous courses throughout my 4 years of high school so…
tbh i think cornell really understands that you aren’t going to be great at everything. i went to the CAS info session over the summer and the admissions counselor said that it’s okay if you aren’t the best at math or history, or if you don’t have the best standardized test scores. she said that those can all be made up for, and that most rejections actually come from the supplement essay
@icybal99
Do you go to TJ?
@MarvinTheSnowCat HAHAH no that place is not for me
@icybal99
I see
I go to Blair…
really wish math wasn’t so hard
@MarvinTheSnowCat Mclean rep here!! haha math is hard everywhere -_- its annoying
@CCSenioritis Not sure if major hooks, but I am a URM, first gen, under $25K income student that is trying to live the dream! I did not grow up in the projects and work this hard to get rejected. I put my heart into everything I did and I will make sure to make not only my parents happy, but the entire world.
@OMGDEVICE MAJOR HOOKS
I talked with my counselor today and she said that Cornell didnt ask for my first quarter grades. I have a decently strong GPA 4.33 (4.17 for UC’s) and my supplement was about my research in my major and stuff.
