Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

@corgis One of the biggest things here is time management; there are so many clubs to join here and a lot of students are juggling their course-load with a job and multiple clubs. Cornell will definitely keep you busy but if you can manage time really well then you can always find some free time on weekends. I personally do find that I spend quite a bit of time studying but that’s in part a result of my own procrastination.

cr ap I really need to have the feeling of in control !!! So much insecurity right now 8-} @-)

I was just talking to a junior @ Cornell who is an ESS major. He said that the major is so small that he thinks it will help my chances. You guys think that’s true?
Halp. Every time I think of it I convince myself I am going to get accepted, but my stats are so average.
If I don’t get it through my head that rejection is imminent I am probably not going to be able to handle it.

Do they require you to send first quarter grades?

@Iliaoi
your username took me a while to figure out :stuck_out_tongue:
I feel as though it’s easier to get in than many people think on less popular majors as long as you show that you have passion for it.
@ryantf
I don’t think so
They sometimes ask for them

If they don’t ask for them, is it a bad sign/that you aren’t being considered? Or are they saying that your grades were good and they don’t need to check? Or is it just random?

@ryantf
Send them if they were good
@MarvinTheSnowCat
I hope I showed my passion! :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for the help

Is it too late to send them? And does it have to be official from the school?

ah, that all sounds so exciting! are there a lot of campus activities to entertain you if you ever feel bored on a weekend? @bigredhelp

I didn’t send q1 grades…it’s not like they REQUIRE them.

In fact, @PhunguSAE kindly clarified this Q1 issue:
“I called the admissions office a couple days ago asking about 1Q grades, and they said if you don’t have them because your school grades by semester, that’s completely fine.”

Thanks @PhunguSAE!

I feel I will have heart attacks on December 10th

@ryantf
I took a screen shot of my report card and sent it by email last week

you guys… if we get accepted we’ll have the same alma mater as bill nye :-?

@Iliaoi Yeah the thing about us ESS applicants is that we dont usually have the best stats. However our ECs are usually killer and fit very well with the sustainability curriculum. Personally, I only have 29 (32 superscored) on the ACT but im still slightly confident bc of my hooks, essays, and ECs :slight_smile:

Btw I got the info from talking to current ESS majors

@davidwaloo
Wait is that actually true about the not having the best stats things? Awesome…
Unfortunately I have no hooks, but i think I am a pretty strong fit.

@Ilaoi
I sure hope so…
That’s basically what I’m counting on to get into cornell unfortunately…

@corgis Definitely; Cornell does get a reputation for being in the middle of nowhere but trust me there is always something going on on-campus.

that’s great to hear! thank you for replying back to me :slight_smile: @bigredhelp
