Assuming that i get admitted to the M.Eng ECe prog and complete the degree successfully, does any1 know if cornell ECE M.Eng passouts get placed well in industry? Are international students placed well 2? What is the average starting salary for ECE M.Eng passout if he/she is an international student?

anyone know if Cornell has any aid available for Meng?

no......ive hrd that cornell M.eng programs generally are'nt given any aid.......

Hey everyone..............ive got some really good news........This morning I just got an offer letter from Georgiatech for an MS under the ECE Department......im relieved that atleast one univ has responded.....no news from cornell yet though..........i hav my fingers crossd..........has any1 applied to UIUC?have they startd announcing their decisions?

Congratulations winz!

hey every1......i finally got an admit letter from Cornell for M.eng Program under the ECE DEpartment for the Fall of 2008!!!!whew!!itz bout time they responded!!!

congrats winz!
i am also an international student and i prepare to go to this MEng program in Cornell this fall.
I wanna know something about this program especially when i finish the degree and start to find a job. Given the isolated location of Cornell, with this MEng degree, can i get a job in other place, say california?

Well....from wat I understand of the M.Eng Degree is dat most of their students get placed pretty well in industry......to say that Cornell is isolated is not exactly right, even though Ithaca is a college town, its only like 3 hrs away from New York City which is a hot bed for jobs.......and i noe 3 of my seniors who went to Cornell for the M.Eng under the CS department and they managed to get jobs in Microsoft in Seattle and in oracle(dunt noe the location)......so all in all I think the Cornell Brand name helps......plus as far as International Students are concerned, the Cornell name is a good launch pad if u're aspiring for an MBA in a prestigious business school in the future(like stanford, harvard, etc.)

Many thanks winz.
From what i hrd, east coast of america is not quite good for ee while west coast is pretty bright for ee due to the silicon valley.
One more thing, 30 credit hours for 1 year, 9 monthes actually, i think it's not an easy task to handle. Also, we may merely have time to prepare for the future job thing during the 9 monthes.
