Cornell ED 2025, Chance me!

Demographic - Out-of-state, Asian (Indian) Female, applied for financial aid (household income < 85k)

Major at CALS - Biological Sciences

Grades -

I did 8 IGCSEs, all As, currently doing IBDP, had a drop in my grades in junior year (36/45), current predicted is a 39/45 or 40/45 (not sure exactly because some policy at my school doesn’t let teachers disclose exact preds). My IB Subjects are Biology HL, Chemistry HL, Math AI HL, Physics SL, English SL and French B.

SAT - 1490 (CALS is test-blind though)

APs - AP Macroecon - 4

LORs - I got my LORs from teachers that I have a really good rep with, my math teacher in IB (10/10) and my french teacher throughout the whole of high school, knows me for a long time (9/10). I’m pretty confident that my counsellor wrote a decent LOR as well.

Extra-curriculars -

  • Paid Internship at an apparel firm to graphic design the packaging of one of their products. I got commissioned for the same. [12th grade]
  • Started my community organization - aimed towards spreading awareness about hygiene amongst children in impoverished parts of my city. We worked with a lot of elementary schools and donated first aid kits, while teaching them the importance of each item in the first aid kit. Also partnered with NVIDIA and their adopted schools to set up medical camps for these students. [11th and 12th grade]
  • Vice President at an animal welfare organisation at school [11th grade]
  • Leadership positions in the student government [11th and 12th grade]
  • Did an internship for media marketing and graphic design at Asia’s largest foundation for acid attack survivors: did legal research, redesigned website, made infographics for social media marketing, taught the some of the survivors English and math [12th grade]
  • Organised an inter-school event for IB students in my locality to help them expand the outreach of their community service projects [11th grade]
  • Head of Design at an environmental welfare organization in my city [12th grade]
  • Played the piano for 9 years [9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade]
  • Huge art enthusiast - had my own exhibitions for art and I held art therapy sessions for abuse victims.
  • Did a python course and wrote a code to help in the prognosis of COVID-19
  • Not an EC per se but I’m in the process of publishing a paper that I wrote as a part of the IBDP but I did mention that in my application.

I don’t have major oriented extracurriculars ouch but I didn’t get as many opportunities to build upon that part of my application because of COVID  however, my personal essay touches upon my passion for the sciences and my comm app essay talks about my improvement as an individual throughout highschool through eye-opening perceptions of art

Thanks in advance! Be honest and critical lol
