Cornell EDers...have u submitted ur RD apps?

will sumbit my RD apps after Dec 15 put me into a disadvantage as to interview and mailing materials???

I say don't bother filling them out till you get rejected/deferred..I'm sure it makes rejection rough, but if you're accepted it feels really sweet to have only filled out one application.

yeah, and i always envy the person who says "i only applied to cornell."

I love saying that when I hear the word Harvard.

I think the best thing to do is apply now and it least have a back-up just in case Cornell doesn't come through. I applied ED to Cornell CAS, and I've already mailed out RD to 4 other schools. Accepted to Washington and Jefferson, and UT at Austin already...so....when I get my rejection letter from Cornell, it won't be as shocking. :)

I've done my UC app, but that was because of their deadline. I don't plan on doing any more until I hear from Cornell.

I have not applied any where else yet...I am going to apply to U Mich right away if I don't get accepted to Cornell, but then I am going to take my time on the other applications I have (Brown, Georgetown, Williams, Yale, University of Rochester) and submit them when they are due. I am waiting because if I get into Cornell, I will save probally around $400 in application fees and sending test scores and everything...I think it's best to wait, although if I get deferred or rejected, I will definatley wish I had started the other apps...

I was well underway with my RD apps by now. I had sent 4 our and been accepted by 1 school (rolling, and to 4 of it's colleges may I add--yay for state schools!) already when I got accepted to cornell. If you get either the paperwork or the essays for some of your other schools done now, it will not only take the pressure off getting into cornell, but it will also make winter break a whole lot less stressfull and work-filled should you get rejected or deferred.

I told my guidance counselor my applications were filled out so she'd leave me alone, but I was really going to do them the night I was rejected/deferred, because I'm not fond of doing things I don't have to...or I wasn't in my senior year of high school, now I'd probably do them, lol.

i have not sent any RD apps out yet, but i have done all the informational work (besides having test agencies send scores and the guidance stuff), and a lot of the essays are finished, and many are in the process, so i guess if i'm deferred/rejected from Corny it wont be impossible to get everything done.

it seems a tad superfluous to me to all out send out all RD apps before the 15th though: 50-70 bucks per application x 8-10 applications = anywhere from 400-700 bucks wasted if cornell is nice to me. i'm sure many others are in the same boat as me- wanting to send everything out and be done w/ it but also holding out one more week until the big 'red' day.

--sigh-- the college process is way too stressful

yeah, sent out is unnecessary, but completed is not a bad idea...why would you buy car insurance when you don't plan to get in a car accident?...kind of the same concept. (yes, I know, car insurance is required by law...SHHHHHH!)

the only fuzzy part about it is the gaayness my school gets into:

they require students to give guidance their application material for RD applications by december 7th (dec 15th for apps due after jan. 14). if you give them your material after the 7th they are not liable for any late arriving material. This seems just like a safety measure, but two kids last year ended up going to community college b/c of late material that the school sent late, and a few others in the previous year- that's the only concern i have, and it kinda ****es me off.

I have sent apps to 3 UCs, UW, CU Boulder, and U. of Rochester. Already got into CU-Boulder and should hear from UW soon. Rochester has a Dec 1 deadline for scholarship consideration and the UCs were due on 11/30 - the other two are rolling and I like the peace of mind knowing that I'm already in my safety.

If I get deferred or rejected from Cornell, I'll be sending apps to Tufts, Carnegie Mellon, and Syracuse. I have yet to start on any of those applications :o.

Most of my RD schools don't require and essay so I already filled out most of them. I only need to write essays for 3 of the schools I'm applying to and that's about it. I'm waiting till I find out from Cornell before I waste all that money on the RD apps and score sending.

Absolutely nada, and I hope it'll stay that way. ;)

I do have everything aside from essays ready to go, though... I have everything in order and already have my school waiting on my request to send my transcript and whatnot to the schools of my choice. It wouldn't be too difficult to have everything in before their deadlines, but I'm praying I'll have the pleasure of cancelling my transcript requests on Friday. :)

BlueDevilBBall: calling things gay is a bad habit to have. It slips out when I talk, so I don't mean to be a hypocrite, but it's a really good way to **** people off. I try and substitute "lame..." when I think far enough ahead during casual conversation.
