I got a really tough decision to make. Which one would you pick for engineering and job prospects after graduating. Is it easier to get high paying jobs from columbia rather than cornell engineering? I will post on both threads to take out bias.

Cornell has a better engineering program flat-out, and thus, will likely have better job prospects. People who higher engineers do not look at schools overall; they look at their specific engineering programs.

Look at the intangibles however.

If you want to be a real engineer, and actually build stuff, attend Cornell. If you don’t, attend Columbia.

Of course, if you don’t want to build stuff, you can also attend Cornell!

“Of course, if you don’t want to build stuff, you can also attend Cornell!”

I absolutely agree with this. Cornell’s engineering programs are comprehensive and intense, but the graduates are certainly not limited to careers in classic and pure engineering. I’ve seen graduates go on and pursue careers in just about every field imaginable. Very exciting.

I was faced with a similar choice years ago (Cornell engineering versus Columbia engineering). I chose Cornell, and while I think Columbia’s engineering programs are both fantastic and slightly underrated, I’m absolutely glad that I chose Cornell.
