Cornell Government Major Q's

Hey all, I'm interested in the government major in the College of Arts and Sciences and have a couple of questions.

What is the departments reputation like compared to other Ivies, and what kind of job opportunities would one have going into the private sector with a degree in government?

I'm a bit confused as to what you can do with a gov't degree if you're not interested in going into public service.

Well, you may want to go on to graduate school then. You will have a wider array of job opportunities if you take your gov major and continue in say, law school.

I see, I see. Do you have any idea if Government is a difficult enough major where it would be hard to maintain a strong GPA for a top law school?

I believe government major is a difficult major at Cornell. I hear it is a lot of work.
