Cornell ILR vs Pomona vs Emory

One last bump. I think I will commit within 30 min. Thank you all for responding and insight :slight_smile:

@helpmefriends Ratings don’t matter, but I just wanna point out that Pomona is rated the #1 school (LACs and universities) on Forbes’ College List. It is also a beautiful school with the resources of the Consortium, and a guarantee for a personalized, immersive education. If it’s also cheaper than the other options, it’s a no-brainer! I don’t think you can go wrong if you choose to go there, unless you want a bigger environment of a research uni like Emory or Cornell. Good luck with your decision!

@shadyconcepts
Is there anything majorly beneficial about a bigger environment?

@helpmefriends I was part of a program called Pomona College Academy for Youth Success. PAYS is a yr long college access program with an academically rigorous residential component each summer at Pomona College for high school students. So for month during the summer, high school students dorm and attend Pomona College–we have access to Pomona faculty, staff, and students. A few Pomona professors work with PAYS and provide classes for us. That’s how I was able to take that class.

I don’t think many Pomona college classes include people that aren’t part of the 5cs.

@helpmefriends, Cornell will have more students who reside near NYC and surrounding environs. It has a more intense, competitive vibe. Its students are fairly liberal. There are a lot of pre-professionals. It has a wonderful variety of cafeterias. If you long for Greek life, it has it. If you long for cold, rainy, windy days, you will be in nirvana. Likewise, if you are a jogger, and are in search of beautiful trails, you will appreciate what it has to offer. Or if you are a botanist.

Pomona’s student body is decidedly more collaborative. Its campus is a fraction of the size. In my opinion, the student body is more progressive (aka liberal) than either school. You will have more opportunities for study abroad and help financing research over the summer at Pomona.

Again, what does your heart say?

I’m not sure if my heart can talk, but hopefully 4 years from now my diploma will say Pomona College. :wink:
Thanks everyone.

Awesome choice. Good luck!

Congratulations on all of your acceptances and… Chirp!!!
